Getting AW Signer working

The app says no token was found

1. Plug the token straight into the Mac, not through a hub, and wait a few seconds.
2. Check that the token’s macOS driver is installed. It comes from the token’s maker, not from us. Only the HYP2003 token is confirmed so far; for any other model, write to us.
3. Press Check again in the app. The first check after opening the app is the slowest.

My token has more than one certificate

AW Signer lists them all and picks the valid signing certificate for you. You can choose another one in the same list. Expired certificates and ones meant only for encryption can’t be selected.

It warns that my certificate expires soon

You’ll see this when the signing certificate has 30 days or fewer left. Contact the authority that issued the token to renew it before the date.

Signing is slow

Most of the wait is the token itself. The app prepares the driver in the background while you choose files, so signing after you enter the PIN should take a couple of seconds. If it doesn’t, send us the file ~/Library/Logs/AW Signer/signing-timings.log. It holds timings only: no PIN and no file names.

The wrong PIN message

Tokens lock after a few wrong PINs. Stop after two failed tries and check the PIN with the token’s own utility.

I reached the free limit

Free accounts sign 10 documents a month. The count resets on the first of the month. Pro, which removes the limit, is coming soon. See your usage on the account page.

I didn’t get the sign-in code

It can take a minute. Check spam. Codes come from AccredWorks. If it still doesn’t arrive, ask for a new one, or write to support@accredworks.com.

Updating

AW Signer updates itself from version 2.5.0. Manual installs are always available on the download page.

Report a problem

Use Report a Problem in the app’s Help menu. It fills in your version for you and adds no file names or paths. Or write to support@accredworks.com.
